These gloves are hand knit in simple rib pattern in soft alpaca and acrylic mix yarn.

I know summer is just starting but it is always cold somewhere! Besides, it is never too early to start on Christmas shopping :)

We spend our spring working on new assortments of hand knit product for the coming Fall and Winter. There are so many pretty colors and cool yarns! I just wish we would have more time to work even harder. Hand knitting takes a long time but it's totally worth it!

Irish knits and St. Patricks Day

I love St. Patricks Day and I always start to think of it in the middle of winter. It is my way to wait for spring. I am taking lots of Irish inspired photos and going through Celtic knot images. Isn't it fun to learn their meaning?

Last winter I had many customers contacted me with request for a slouchy socks and aran knits. So, to answer these and also make my tribute to St. Patricks Day, I added some new items to my shop. There are some long socks in traditional off white color and also new fingerless gloves in oatmeal and gray shades.

The patterns I used for these were a combination of diamonds and cables. Not the easiest ones but so pretty.

Did you know that every cable pattern had a meaning on the Aran Islands? Like with many other folkloric designs, it reflected a people's daily lives or activities. There is much more behind every knit aran pattern then just a pretty stitch.

January 2015

January was such a busy time for us. We are very happy about lots of custom orders, it keeps us busy. Last holiday season showed that people love our product and we are very grateful to each and everyone of our customers at our socksandmittens shop on Etsy.

We have some lovely ideas for the spring and summer but we are still working on some warmer accessories for the customers for this season. 

 The winter is almost ended here in Arizona but the weather is not so warm in some other areas. So there is always a need for some pretty and warm gloves, cozy socks and warm fashion accessories!

Warm hands, warm heart

This Fall and winter season is so unusually cold for our warm state. I constantly need something warm over my shoulders and a cup of hot tea. The weather is still very pleasant, just the right temperature for warm and cozy things.

The warm and cozy mittens for those, who have real winters are already in our socksandmittens shop. 

We choose mostly traditional Christmas red, white and green shades to make these but we also have some other pretty colors.

Inspired by harvest

This Fall we are just in love with color. It is colder here this year and the yellow leaves are already falling. We already harvested our herbs, watermelons, lemon Meyers, sweet Hawaiian peppers and Indian eggplant. They are so colorful (and delicious!).

 

That's when we decided to pull some bright yarns out of our stash and knit some new gloves!

I don't have more of these yarns so some of them are impossible to repeat. The colors are so rich and pretty that sometimes I don't even know how to explain the shades in words!
